The routing of voice conversations over the Internet or through any other Internet Protocol-based network. Companies providing VoIP service are commonly referred to as providers, and protocols which are used to carry voice signals over the IP network are commonly referred to as Voice over IP or VoIP protocols.

Voice over Internet Protocol takes analog audio signals, like the kind you hear when you talk on the phone (using a traditional PSTN phone), and turns them into digital data that can be transmitted over the Internet.

VSGi’s hosted business VoIP service, or VoiceWorks, provides the service to your organization via an Internet connection, such that all you have to do is plug in your phones and you are ready to go. The VoIP PBX resides in a data center and provides VoIP service to your organization via your Internet connection. You use your Web browser to configure the service, establish your users & establish/ change features. You do not have to hassle with server set-up and maintenance, nor do you have to worry about having the right software version nor do you have to own the troubleshooting of any VoIP software.


Most VoIP packages include traditional telephony features that most telecommunication companies normally charge extra for, or may be unavailable from your local telco, such as 3-way calling, call forwarding, automatic redial, caller ID and find me-follow me routing, to insure all your calls find you where you are (cell phone, etc)
