Donald K. Jones
Chief Executive Officer
As Chief Executive Officer for VSGi, Donald Jones is responsible for the company’s overall activities and performance. Mr. Jones was on the team that structured the original formation of VSGi. Prior to joining VSGi, Mr. Jones was Managing Director for Venturehouse Group, based in Washington, D.C. There he worked closely with a number of Venturehouse Group technology portfolio companies. Before joining Venturehouse, Mr. Jones was Managing Director with Russell Reynolds Associates where he started the firm’s software practice, later was responsible for the United States high technology sector, and managed the firm’s Silicon Valley office in Menlo Park, California. Previously, Mr. Jones founded and later sold Potomac Software, a company that developed and sold PC-based real-time trading software for stock and derivative traders. For over seven years with the consulting firms Booz Allen & Hamilton and Strategic Planning Associates, Mr. Jones consulted on a wide variety of technology, operations, and corporate strategy projects for clients in the manufacturing, financial services, telecommunications, and high technology segments. Mr. Jones received his B.A. with honors from the University of Texas and his M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Vice President of Sales
James Copperthite brings extensive sales and sales management experience to VSGi and is responsible for all revenue generating activities. Mr. Copperthite has built and led top sales teams for technology and communications companies for the past fifteen years. Prior to joining VSGi, Mr. Copperthite led U.S. sales for Acronis Software a leader in disaster recovery solutions. Before joining Acronis, Mr. Copperthite was responsible for managing sales in the western region of North America for Cable and Wireless, a leading provider of carrier class networks and hosting centers. Previously, Mr. Copperthite was employed by UUNet, where he completed his tenure as managing application hosting and collocation sales for their Mid Atlantic region. For over eight years Mr. Copperthite was in the financial services industry at various Wall Street firms where he worked closely with start-up companies seeking funding through IPOs, venture funding and other alternative financing.
Vice President of Operations
Todd Plumhoff brings over twenty years of experience in telecommunications to VSGi. As Vice President of Operations, Mr. Plumhoff is responsible for delivering world class operations support to customers through VSGi’s 24×7 help desk, project management function, and field engineering. He is also responsible for VSGi’s network and conferencing services business unit. Mr. Plumhoff closely manages VSGi’s key partner relationships with manufacturers and vendors to ensure VSGi customers receive top service and support for any of VSGi’s products or services. Prior to joining VSGi, Mr. Plumhoff held product management, product marketing and business development positions with Net2000 and TriPoint Global Communications.
Vice President of Technology Services
Marc Kremer is responsible for VSGi’s pre-sales engineering efforts as well as all new technology initiatives, both internal and external, at the company. Mr. Kremer brings his in depth video, communications, and computer technology experience to customers both before and after the sale. Prior to joining VSGi, Mr. Kremer spent nine years at Tandberg in various operations positions with functional responsibility in order processing, purchasing, sales, engineering, project management, warehousing, systems, product development, and sales support. He has had direct experience in a wide variety of areas as Tandberg updated their operations systems and processes during a period of growth both in revenue and in operational complexity. For seven years before joining Tandberg, Mr. Kremer held various engineering and consulting positions. He has been a member of the Order of the Engineers of Quebec since 1991, and he serves as Director on two Boards, that of the Constance Lethbidge Rehabilitation Centre and of the Gesher Day School, where he is Vice President of Long Range Planning. Mr. Kremer received his BSCE in Civil Engineering from the University of Western Ontario.
Vice President of Finance
David Knott has responsibility for the Finance function at VSGi and is based in the company’s McLean, Virginia office. Previously, Mr. Knott was the Director of Finance for Zipcar, Inc., a venture-backed provider of transportation services. In that role Mr. Knott implemented the finance and control system, managed the system during a period of high growth and served as a member of the senior management team. Mr. Knott was also instrumental in both a debt and equity round of financing. For the eight years prior to joining Zipcar, he worked for two of the “Big 5” accounting and consulting firms both in the United States and in Europe where he focused primarily on clients in the manufacturing and financial services industries assisting with international mergers and acquisitions as well as IPO’s. Mr. Knott is a Certified Public Accountant and received a B.S. degree with high honors and an MBA from the University of Utah.
